Cebit Sydney

just a small comment about the Cebit in Sydney.
You can recognize that its a german computer fair, since a lot of german companies have big stands there.
Surprisingly we meet also some mates from Uni Passau, and a former Prof. form Regensburg that were neighbours on CEBIT 2008/Hanover. So we had good patriotic talks, get updates about germany and an offer to do phd there . We even got free coffee, some “german” tissues and a “land of ideas” bag. The world is getting small!!!
Besides that the fair was fairly small, but we seen some good ideas everywhere and there were even some hot hostesses but not that much compared to the real CEBIT. Furthermore the Consumer area was not really big -so couldn’t find some new mobiles, laptops and so far. In addition our mates from passau also reported that the parties there were not really good – so I’m more then happy to be in germany for next years CEBIT and the O2/freenet and other parties .
After that we went to Pancakes so I can tick it of from my ToDo list as well.

Apec Week

Hier ein paar Bilder von der Stadt während der APEC week-u.a. war hier auch eine Demo – die allerdings nicht mit europäischen Verhältnissen vergleichbar ist. Die Australier sind generell etwas unpolitisch (Außnahmen bestättigen die Regel) – aber es gab vereinzelt Proteste.

City2Surf

Ein Volks-Lauf durch Sydney von Stadtmitte bis Bondi Beach mit 60000 Mitläufer – eher ein Fun Event mit vielen kostumierten Läufern. Die Strecke ging übrigens direkt an meiner Wohnung vorbei .
